Noom / Noom Med Review: Questions to Settle Before You Enroll

Noom combines digital habit support with access to independent clinical partners, but its medication programs differ in price, pharmacy access and refund rules. Here is what prospective patients should clarify.

Before asking whether Noom Med is affordable, ask which Noom program you are actually considering. Its public documentation describes medication-inclusive GLP-1 programs, an oral metformin option and a branded-medication telehealth subscription that excludes the medicine’s cost. Those are materially different purchases. The most useful comparison starts with the exact program name, prescribed product, initial charge and next billing period—not the lowest introductory number displayed on a page.

This documentary review examines Noom’s public pages consulted October 19, 2026, with an emphasis on questions patients can take into enrollment. The documentation provides meaningful detail about digital support, independent clinical responsibilities and pharmacy restrictions, but it also contains conflicting prices and older geographic information. Noom’s descriptions of licensed clinicians and regulated pharmacies are company statements, not independently verified credentials. The practical task is to turn those descriptions into a clear, written account of what your particular enrollment would buy.

At a glance

Who provides medical care
Noom says it is not a healthcare provider; independent clinical partners provide medical and pharmacy decisions and services.

Branded medication costs extra
Telehealth for Branded Med is advertised at $39 to start, then $129 per month after month one, billed quarterly; medication is excluded.
Sources: [9]
Pharmacy choice has exceptions
Most prescriptions may use a patient-selected pharmacy, but some compounded prescriptions require a platform partner and certain generic programs require a preferred pharmacy.

Refund timing matters
The refund policy generally ends Noom Med refund eligibility once a prescription is written; branded-medication telehealth has a seven-day request window that also ends after a clinical visit.

Start with the program, not the brand name

Noom Weight is the company’s non-medication program, available separately and included with all medication plans according to its pricing page. It offers food and macro tracking, progress tracking, body scans, coaching and personalized lessons. That means a medication subscription includes a substantial digital component, but purchasing Noom Weight alone is not the same as arranging a prescribing consultation. Ask the enrollment representative to identify the exact product being sold and whether it includes clinical care.

The medication menu extends beyond one GLP-1 offer. Noom advertises Microdose GLP-1Rx, GLP-1Rx, GLP-1Rx Plus and Proactive Health GLP-1Rx, alongside metformin and branded-medication telehealth. Plus is described as acting on GLP-1 and GIP receptors, with clinical care, medication and the digital program included and no insurance required. Proactive Health advertises those inclusions plus home testing of 17 biomarkers. Neither description, by itself, establishes the precise prescription a patient would receive.

Noom’s terms identify Noom, Inc. as the platform business while assigning medical and pharmacy services to independent partners. This distinction should shape your questions: Who evaluates you, who writes the prescription and who handles a medication problem? A useful starting point is our guide to what a program should explain before enrollment. For Noom specifically, obtain the clinical partner’s identity rather than assuming the platform name identifies every organization involved in care.

Ask for the medicine’s identity before comparing prices

The consulted documentation does not establish the exact molecule, formulation and route for every Microdose, GLP-1Rx, Plus or Proactive Health offering. A program label is therefore insufficient for a product comparison. Request the prescribed drug’s name, whether it is compounded or an FDA-approved product, its route and its presentation. Noom separately advertises conditional access to Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound, but says prescribing depends on the clinician’s evaluation and treatment plan; enrollment is not a guaranteed prescription.

Noom states that medications included in GLP-1Rx are produced in USP-compliant, state-regulated pharmacies and have not been reviewed by FDA for safety, efficacy or quality. That is a company description, not an independent pharmacy inspection. FDA explains that compounded preparations are not FDA approved and recommends them when an individual’s medical needs cannot be met by an approved drug. Nonapproval alone does not establish clinical inequivalence, and regulatory statements about a medicine should not be mistaken for approval of Noom itself.

The metformin program is explicitly described as oral, with care, medication and the digital program included; Noom also notes that metformin is not FDA-approved for weight loss. Its broader educational medication list includes several other possible prescriptions, subject to clinical judgment, rather than promising every listed drug through every package. Our guide to identifying the medicine behind an offer can help organize the details that remain unresolved before checkout.

Get a charge schedule that resolves the conflicting offers

Noom’s pricing page distinguishes an introductory payment from later charges, as summarized below. For four medication-inclusive options, the transition follows a first four-week supply—not a calendar month—and subsequent prices are expressed monthly but billed quarterly. Ask for the actual amount and date of the next collection. A monthly display does not necessarily describe a monthly debit, and a stated subscription period does not establish the medication quantity dispensed or a minimum treatment commitment.

Other pages do not cleanly match that menu. The homepage describes an initial three-week subscription and four weeks of medication from $149 plus tax, followed by $349 per month plus tax for a 12-week subscription. It also shows a from-$79 offer followed by $199 per month plus tax on the same structure. Both are restricted to new accounts, with pricing effective March 31, 2026. The documentation does not establish that these are identical offers to the pricing-page plans.

There are additional differences worth resolving directly. Proactive Health is advertised at $149 every four weeks, with a first term of 15 weeks and 16-week renewals; the collection schedule needs clarification. The Wegovy page simultaneously shows $39/$129 and $69/$99 introductory/ongoing care prices, both excluding medicine. Ask Noom to confirm which offer applies, taxes, delivery charges and the next full billing amount in writing. Our price-question checklist provides a framework without treating any one headline as definitive.

Separate insurance verification from treatment approval

For branded medications, Noom says its telehealth program can help check potential insurance coverage. The medication is paid separately through insurance if approved or through cash payment, depending on the plan. The pricing page says insurance does not cover the Noom program itself. Consequently, a favorable coverage check should not be read as confirmation that the subscription, every consultation and the eventual prescription will all be covered under one benefit.

The terms describe a separate employer or private-health-plan arrangement in which clinical partners may submit claims and patients may owe copays or deductibles. They also state that Noom is not enrolled as a participating provider or vendor in federal or state healthcare programs, including Medicare and Medicaid. These are different payment contexts, not interchangeable promises. Ask whether your access is a direct subscription or an employer-sponsored benefit and which entity will issue each bill.

Noom’s insurance checker expressly says it is informational and does not initiate treatment requests or issue prescriptions. Its advertised first-month discount of $90 or more depends on program selection; the from-$39 subscription figure excludes medication. Noom also describes possible FSA/HSA reimbursement, with eligibility depending on the program, plan and provider. Before relying on either coverage or reimbursement, get the applicable documentation and ask your plan administrator what it requires.

Confirm eligibility, location and testing before paying

Noom describes enrollment as a short online assessment, a review of eligibility and plan options, and connection with a clinician it describes as licensed. It says pricing, subscription costs and next steps appear before commitment. Eligibility varies by program and may involve BMI, medical history and state of residence. Ask when a charge occurs relative to the eligibility check and clinician review, especially because the refund policy attaches consequences to the later prescription or clinical visit.

The homepage excludes people under 18, pregnant people, people with an eating disorder and people who are underweight, defined there as BMI below 18.5. An article updated in April 2025 gives Noom Med thresholds of BMI 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with a weight-related condition. Those older thresholds should not be presented as the complete eligibility rules for every current offering. Only the applicable program’s assessment can establish whether its requirements are met.

Geographic and testing details also need program-level confirmation. The pricing page says availability does not extend to all 50 states, while the older article says nationwide except Alabama and Virginia. That older list is not a current product-by-state directory. The Wegovy pathway includes a metabolic laboratory test before online clinical evaluation, while Proactive Health advertises home biomarker testing. Ask which tests are required, what is included and what happens if results prevent a prescription.

Identify who fills the prescription and handles delivery problems

Noom’s terms allow most prescriptions to be dispensed at the patient’s chosen pharmacy, but they specify important exceptions. Some compounded prescriptions can only be filled by a pharmacy partner on the platform. Certain generic-medication programs require Noom’s preferred pharmacy to participate and obtain that program’s price. Before assuming you can transfer a prescription locally, ask whether the particular medication and advertised price are tied to a specific dispensing channel.

The branded-medication program describes pharmacy pickup or pharmacy delivery. The homepage also advertises medication shipped to your door in seven days, but it does not clearly define the starting point or establish a universal arrival guarantee. A separate qualification says not all medicines are available for home delivery and that availability depends on insurance or cash-pay status. Ask for the dispensing pharmacy’s name, anticipated dispatch date, delivery arrangements and the contact responsible for a delayed or damaged shipment.

The consulted documentation does not establish pharmacy names for each program, guaranteed response or arrival times, or detailed cold-chain replacement terms. Those gaps are particularly relevant before an injectable shipment. FDA explicitly recommends not using an injectable GLP-1 drug that arrives warm or with insufficient refrigeration and contacting the provider or dispensing pharmacy. Obtain that contact path before delivery rather than assuming a general subscription-support channel can resolve a product-handling concern.

Distinguish clinical follow-up from coaching and app features

A Noom Med article advertises unlimited one-to-one telehealth visits and chat messaging with specially trained weight-loss clinicians. It also describes a dedicated Care Team helping with insurance when applicable, fulfillment, refills and potential side effects. These are useful service descriptions, but the documentation does not establish guaranteed human response times or review frequency for every current package. Ask whether those advertised access terms apply to your selected plan and how to contact its clinical team.

Coaching has a different role. Noom’s terms say coaches cannot diagnose or treat medical or mental-health conditions, and coaching interactions do not establish a physician-patient relationship. Meanwhile, GLP-1 Companion with Muscle Defense provides protein tracking, high-protein recipes and on-demand workouts. Those are documented program features, not a verified guarantee of muscle preservation. Knowing the distinction helps direct questions about prescriptions or symptoms to clinical professionals rather than relying on a coach’s general behavior-change support.

For follow-up preparation, NIDDK advises discussing current medicines, supplements, allergies and pregnancy plans with the clinician, alongside benefits, side effects and costs. Medication accompanies eating and activity changes rather than replacing them. Applied to Noom, the question is how the independent clinical partner reviews tolerance and response over time, not simply how refills are purchased. Also confirm communication language: the terms establish English-language contracts but do not confirm Spanish-language clinical care or translated consent documents.

Settle cancellation and refund boundaries before the first visit

Noom subscriptions automatically renew at the end of the disclosed billing period unless canceled according to the instructions. The terms require cancellation before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on the day before the next recurring billing date and permit cancellation through the account. Ordinary refunds or credits are not provided for partially used periods, although discretionary exceptions may occur. Keep the actual renewal date and billing period, not just the advertised monthly equivalent, with your enrollment records.

The support refund policy draws different boundaries for different programs. For Noom Med, refunds may be available until a prescription is written; afterward, that policy says they are no longer possible. For Telehealth for Branded Meds, requests must be within seven days of the first charge and before a clinical visit. This makes timing consequential: cancellation of future renewal does not itself return a prior payment, and refund eligibility may end before medication arrives.

These provisions should not be flattened into an exceptionless rule. The terms also describe a three-business-day rescission provision for California residents. Cancellation guidance says access continues through the cycle, while the terms allow cancellation during a trial or promotion to take effect immediately. Ask which provisions apply to your subscription and what happens to clinical access and pending fulfillment. Our guide to questions before the next charge can help keep cancellation, refunds and ongoing care separate.

Questions & answers

Does a Noom Med subscription always include medication?

No. The pricing page describes several medication-inclusive programs, but Telehealth for Branded Med excludes medication costs. That subscription includes clinical care, a prescription when appropriate and the digital program; the medicine is paid separately. Confirm the precise enrollment name rather than relying on the general Noom Med label.

Sources: [9]
Which advertised Noom price should I budget for?

Use a written, account-specific offer rather than choosing among conflicting pages. The pricing menu, homepage and Wegovy page show different amounts or structures. Ask for the initial collection, next collection, billing interval, applicable taxes, medication inclusion and any delivery charge. The public documentation does not establish one universally prevailing price.

Sources: [9] [3] [4]
Can I take a Noom prescription to my regular pharmacy?

Often, but not always. The terms allow patient-selected pharmacies for most prescriptions, while some compounded prescriptions require platform pharmacy partners. Certain generic programs also require a preferred pharmacy to access their program and pricing. Confirm the restriction for your exact prescription before assuming a transfer will preserve the advertised offer.

Sources: [5]
Is Noom Med available in my state?

Current availability needs direct confirmation for the selected program and product. The pricing page says services are not available in all 50 states. An April 2025 article excludes Alabama and Virginia, but that older statement does not establish a complete current availability map. State of residence is part of Noom’s eligibility review.

Sources: [9] [7]
Does checking insurance start treatment?

No. Noom’s checker states that verification is informational and does not initiate treatment requests or issue prescriptions. It also does not establish that the Noom subscription is covered. Branded medication may be covered if approved by the health plan, while employer-sponsored access can involve separate clinical claims, copays or deductibles.

Can I cancel after a consultation and get my money back?

Cancellation and refund eligibility are separate. Under the support policy, a branded-medication telehealth visit ends refund eligibility even within the seven-day request window; Noom Med’s boundary is a written prescription. Terms include additional provisions, including a California rescission provision. Confirm the applicable rules before the visit rather than assuming cancellation reverses the charge.

Our assessment

Noom documents a broad combination of behavior-change tools, clinical access and medication pathways, with useful distinctions between included medicines and branded prescriptions paid separately. Its stated follow-up services and pharmacy options give prospective patients concrete features to investigate. The central limitation is that the public pages do not resolve every offer into one consistent price, product and delivery arrangement. Before enrolling, obtain written confirmation of the exact medicine, responsible clinical partner, dispensing pharmacy, full billing schedule and refund boundary. Noom merits consideration as a documented access platform, not an assumption that every advertised program provides the same treatment or terms.
